Audra Bagwell

Originally from Portales, New Mexico, Audra is a student in the MA program at ENMU. She can also be found working in the Writing Center as a tutor. Audra enjoys writing in all genres, primarily focusing on fiction. She is currently working on her thesis project, a work of Speculative Fiction. After finishing her education, Audra plans to pursue a career in editing.
Cody Wilhelm
Assistant Editor
Raised in Lubbock, Texas, Cody is a current graduate student at ENMU and is about to finish his thesis. He has previously been published in several issues of El Portal and has been featured as monthly web feature on the El Portal website. After he graduates, he wants to move back to Lubbock with his soon-to-be wife and potentially work in editing/publishing or as an instructor of English.
Sara Kinard
Assistant Editor
Sara works as one of the assistant editors for the El Portal and is currently an online student in the MA program at ENMU. She has been published in the El Portal on multiple occasions and has been awarded third in prose in 2020 and 2021 as well as first in poetry Spring 2023.
Megan Arlett, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Creative Writing and English
Megan J. Arlett has an MFA in Poetry from Florida International University where she was the creative nonfiction editor at Gulf Stream Literary Magazine and a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of North Texas. The recipient of two Academy of American Poets Prizes, her work has appeared in Best New Poets 2019, Best New British and Irish Poets, The Kenyon Review, Ninth Letter, Passages North, Prairie Schooner, Third Coast, and The Sun, among others. Her first book of poetry, The Garden Party, has been named a finalist for the Jake Adam York Prize, and a semifinalist for the Philip Levine Prize, the Brittingham & Pollack Prizes, and the Pamet River Prize. She is at work on a second poetry manuscript titled Louisiana Saturday Nights and a collection of essays called Preliminary Theories.
